Merci Monsieur le Premier Ministre,
Je voudrais d'abord vous faire part des salutations et de la considération du président Macron.
Nous sommes dans une année très particulière dans la relation entre Israël et la France puisqu'il va y avoir les saisons croisées qui vont nous permettre près de 200 manifestations culturelles à la fois en Israël et en France. Le Premier ministre français viendra ici pour le lancement à la fin du mois de mai, j'aurai le plaisir de l'accompagner. Puis, vous viendrez en France, puis le président Macron viendra en Israël, puis le président d'Israël viendra en France. Donc, nous avons une période intense de relations.
C'est le signe d'une profonde amitié, c'est le signe d'une volonté d'actions en commun. C'est le signe aussi que nos combats fondamentaux sont les mêmes, à la fois le combat contre le terrorisme, à la fois le combat contre l'antisémitisme et à la fois le combat pour la sécurité de la région.
Et, tout à l'heure, j'ai eu un moment d'émotion quand je quittais la visite très émouvante de Yad Vashem et quand j'ai appris qu'une rescapée de la Shoah, Mme Knoll, avait été assassinée à Paris. On ne peut pas dire à cette heure les raisons qui ont provoqué cet assassinat mais l'hypothèse d'un crime antisémite est plausible et, donc, cela nous rappelle le côté fondamental et permanent de ce combat.
Je vous remercie tout particulièrement de votre message en l'honneur du colonel Beltrame qui a payé de sa vie son combat contre le terrorisme. Et nous avons ce combat en commun, la base de tout c'est la sécurité. Et votre message nous est particulièrement sensible.
Nous avons beaucoup de sujets à évoquer ensemble parce que l'on ne peut pas dire que la région soit très calme. Nous allons évoquer l'ensemble de ces questions dans cet esprit de confiance et de franchise qui a toujours été l'esprit des relations entre nous et je suis ravi d'être présent ici auprès de vous aujourd'hui./.

First, I would like to convey to you President Macron's greetings and esteem.
This will be a very special year for Israel and France and the relations between them because we have the joint and combined period with over 200 cultural events that will take place in both Israel and France. The season will begin at the end of May when the French Prime Minister will visit, and I will accompany him, and afterwards you will come to visit France. President Macron will then come here and afterwards President Rivlin will come to France. Thus, very many visits are anticipated and the bond is tightening. This is a sign that the friendship is very deep and strong and we have much in common. We fight the same fights against terrorism, anti-Semitism and - of course - for the security of the entire region.
I had a very moving and difficult moment when I had just concluded my visit to Yad Vashem. I heard about the outrageous murder of Mireille Knoll - a Holocaust survivor - in Paris. We cannot yet say if the motive for the murder was anti-Semitism but it is reasonable to assume, it will not be surprising and, therefore, this only strengthens the fact that this struggle has not ended, and that we will need to continue fighting against anti-Semitism.
I am very grateful for the warm remarks that you spoke in memory of Col. Beltrame who paid with his life in the war against terrorism. This is a common struggle. The basis for all this is security and your message certainly moves us very much. We have much to discuss together. It cannot be said that this region is especially calm.
Therefore, we will discuss all of these issues in the same atmosphere of mutual confidence and the friendship that prevails between us. We can discuss all of this and I am very pleased to be here.
